(Answer) (Category) Darwin FAQ-O-Matic : (Category) About Darwin :
What is Darwin?
Darwin is the core of Apple's MacOS X. It's source code is publicly available from http://www.opensource.apple.com under the the terms of the APSL. It contains the Mach 3.0 kernel, most of the userland for a functional BSD-like operating system, and a lot of code that originated at NeXT, such as NetInfo.
