Who and where am I?

I am a PhD candidate in the Computer Science Department at RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute). RPI is undergoing some rebranding not unlike the switch from Cingular to AT&T. RPI as a short form is being phased out in favor of Rensselaer.

What do I do?

I work with Prof. Wm Randolph Franklin on terrain modeling. Members of our research group include Barb Cutler, Marcus Vinícius Alvim Andrade, Zhongyi Xie and Dan Tracy. About the bird in the logo

It is a timberdoodle (American Woodcock, Scolopax minor). It was filmed in Troy, NY during the St. Patrick's day blizzard in 2007. It was looking for worms under the snow cover and was finding quite a few (video).
